Idaho Trip - Dec 18

12/18/13

Well we drove
and we drove
and we drove
ALL.
NIGHT.
LONG.

The kids opened their little sleepy bug peepers
and were beyond ecstatic when they realized we were magically in Idaho!!
It was a balmy 18 degrees.
It was 81 degrees when we left AZ!
Anden & I were both in flip flops! lol

So we jumped out of the car and came bouncing (or maybe sliding) into Dad's house at 7am!!
He had kindly left us a note on the door!

It might be the one time ever that we were excited to do chores at 7am!!

I sent Ryan off to bed
(since I may or may not have slept almost the entire drive)
and me and the kids were instantly outside playing!

They wandered around the farm
and became reacquainted with all their favorite things!

Topping their list of favorites,
Eating snow.

Then there was the added bonus of finding a stray cat.
Papa Nolie takes in all strays.
Humans or animals.
The kids were thrilled to have a pet for the week!

When Ryan arose from the dead,
we headed into town to Wingers for lunch!

Then it was right back home to find the cat again.
I had to slowly let the kids down about what a "stray" cat is.
And how gross they are.
They didn't hear a word I said and went on a hunt to catch the cat.

They finally found him hiding under the deck.
As they were crawling in to "rescue" him,
he bolted out of there.
I cracked up laughing as I watched them run for miles
trying to catch the dang cat that wanted nothing to do with them!
Then the little stinkers figured out how to open a gate
and ran along the canal bank and up into the fields chasing that cat!

I just laughed watching this black cat bouncing along the white snow
and two desperate kids chasing after it! lol

Finally they admitted defeat and came home eating handfuls of dirty snow instead.

Ryan and Dad headed out to start loading up the toys for the cabin.
So me and the kids explored the shop.
There's always tons of dangerous interesting things to play with in there.

So while the big boys worked we played!
We hooked up the sled to the Rhino and made the most of that 2 inches of crusty snow!

Taylee decided Anden was crazy and she wanted to help me drive instead!
She doesn't look wind blow at all!

Once all the cabin stuff was loaded up
we decided to rush up to Idaho Falls and spend the evening with the rest of the family!
The kids were DYING to see their cousins!

5 minutes into the drive
They were out!

10 minutes later
so was he!

WAIT, Who's driving this ship?!

Finally the cousins were reunited!!

We instantly had to compare how the
Idaho stalk of the Furniss gene
is slightly taller
than the Arizona stalk of the Furniss gene!

So which pair are the 5 year olds?

And are these two kids 2.5 years apart or 4 years apart?!

Sheesh what do you feed those kids?!
Jeslynn told me it was "MILK!"
Hhmm there might be something to that.
We hate milk at our house.

So we ate and played and played.
And to add to the kids' new found cat love,
Brylee and Jeslynn also had found newborn stray cats
and were keeping them at their neighbors (good move Mel!).
So the cat indulgence quickly resumed!

Later, as usual, Jeslynn hijacked my camera.
She's quite the budding photographer.

Finally we drug our tired crew back to Dad's house.
Big day tomorrow!
Heading to the cabin!
