Thanksgiving - Part 2

Date: November 27th

So one of the more anxiety causing parts of Thanksgiving
for me this year was cooking the dang turkey.
Somehow I've always slid through Thanksgiving
without actually being in charge of cooking the MAIN COURSE.

Decorating is my forte
Cooking...um not so much!

So I researched a bunch of recipes online and chose this one.

Hey it said it was "fail proof".
That's right up my alley! :)

The whole decapitated raw turkey just gives me the creeps.
I enlisted Ryan to help me slather that pretty thing
with the sage butter and inject it with flavor steroids.
I did bring myself to take one picture.
Look at it sitting there with arms out taunting us! lol

Once the turkey was bagged and in the roaster oven,
I moved on to setting the table.
Now that's something that doesn't freak me out! lol

This year I decided to have us dine outdoors on the patio.
It ended up being a record hot thanksgiving at a whopping 87 degrees!!!
I was a tad worried it would be too warm
but luckily it was still comfortable in the shade with the patio fans!

And of course the fun kid table!

Finally the guests started to arrive
and the games began!

The Big Turkey and the Little Turkey!

The cutest turkey sisters!

Too many chefs in the kitchen?!

A thankful prayer was said and the feast was on!

Weeks to prepare,
Minutes to demolish!

Back to playing games!

This year I planned a few
"Minute to Win It" Games.
They were so funny and a great addition to our day!

The first game was
"Oranges and Pantyhose"

You had to knock over as many water bottles as you could
without using your hands!

The cheering section!

I challenged Lyndsay to a duel!
The sibling rivalry was on! ;)

Which meant the Nevlis sisters had to go next!

And the last sibling rivalry
(which actually had to go twice!)
was the Taylor siblings.

Sorry Ryan!
Heather still won on the 2nd round too! lol

The second game was
"Hut Hut Hike"

You had to hike the football through the hula hoop.
Each time you made a hoop you had to run switch spots with your teammate.

The third game was
"Cotton ball Pie"

Vaseline was put on your face and then you had to transfer the cotton balls
from one pie tin to the other with no hands!
(the adults opted out of this one!! lol)

Finally we worked up an appetite for the yummy desserts!
Then we just hung out for hours enjoying the
beautiful Phoenix Thanksgiving weather.

Before everyone departed we took a group shot.
It took everything we had to give civilized poses!
(Well except Jayden!)

Then it was back to realistic pictures! lol

We hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving too!
