New Years Eve

Date: December 31st

Our day started at 4am as we headed to the hospital for Ryan's surgery.
Which we only found out the afternoon before when we met
with the surgeon that he was going to immediately operate.
So it all came about so quick that I
hadn't even had time to tell family/friends about it yet!
Luckily Ryan's mom was able to come up and watch Laiklyn
while I sat for hours at the hospital.

Ryan being wheeled away
giving his finest "Are you seriously taking a picture of me right now?!" look!

By 9:30am I was able to go back and see him in recovery.
The surgery went great.
He was completely drugged up and they wheeled him out to the car.
I got handed a bag of supplies and told how to be the nurse
 and change his dressings daily
...oh in a 5 minute crash course training session.

Ya we'll see how well that goes! ugh
I'm more scared for him than me! lol
Needless to say I immediately texted my REAL nurse friend Ashley
for instructions once we got home!

As expected, Ryan was moving much that day.
Which meant we needed to revamp our New Years Eve plans.
Morts were having a party but now just me and the kids would be going.
And it was FREEZING and raining on/off all day.
So the outdoor events needed modified as well.

Well by that night when it was time for the party
Ryan decided he felt well enough (drugged up enough) to waddle
over and join us for a bit before I took him and Laiklyn home to bed.
Yeah!  We do get to party as a family! :)

Taylee testing out her party face! lol

At the Morts house we ate, played games,

lit off fireworks with the neighbors,

froze in the drizzling rain,

Don't let his smile fool you!
The poor guy was in a ton of pain!
But we're happy he still came for awhile!

lit off more fireworks and sparklers,

Said goodbye to Laiklyn and Ryan
and then took my babies home to bed,

And then finally we bundled up and walked over a street
for the much anticipated
Anthem Firework Celebration!
(yes the one that got rained out for 4th of July that they finally were doing for NYE!)

All day it was a guess as to if it would be rained out again.
The Community Council assured us they would do everything they can
to still light the fireworks!
And they did!
Right at 10pm!
Which is definitely our time frame of ringing in the New Year
(east coast style at least! lol)

So there we stood on the corner of the street in the rain and
blew our annoying horns
and ooh'd and aah'd
for about 4 minutes until one by one people started retreating
back into the home to resuscitate their freezing limbs!

Me and the kids were determined to make it to the end though!!
Well except poor Crew who lost to a coughing fit that turned into puking.

With the flash on you can see the rain fighting for the attention amongst the fireworks!

I have no idea why he was laying on the wet sidewalk! lol

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!
